Impersonating Politicians

Many times, impersonating politicians is usually reserved for the satire crowd. Television shows such as “The Tonight show” will treat these improvisations in a humorous light and use it as a butt of all jokes. Shows such as “Saturday Night Live” use them as a mockery and may even assist in fulfilling a political agenda. Regardless, when it specifically comes to politicians, every single one of them will be open to such ridicule and always will be considering that the immense public eye as well as public scrutiny is constantly looming.

Politicians have always been the subject of constant impersonations with some politicians being impersonated more than others. It normally goes somewhat with the current events which pertain to the politician themselves. God forbid that a politician accidentally stick their foot into their mouths. This would certainly find a way of becoming part of the following weeks skits and sketches. And, sometimes these improvisations will last for quite some time. In fact, some of the politicians will actually never live it down. For example, remember when Dan Quayle misspelled potato. This is always going to be his trademark and therefore, when Day Quayle is now being impersonated, the subject always does seem to make it into the routine.

As far as more recent impersonations go, Tina Fey of the Saturday Night Live fame became an overnight sensation when she impersonated Sara Palin, the vice presidential candidate. She earned rave reviews for this specific piece of acting and will quite probably be remembered quite fondly for it. It was so popular, that each weekend on Saturday night for weeks on end there would always be something with Tina Fey portraying the currents events that were surrounding Sara Palin. However, after losing the election, the Sara Palin and the John McCain impersonators have substantially dropped off.

This is due to the fact that now, after the election, they would be considered old news. As mentioned earlier, when it comes to impersonating politicians, there certainly is a time and a place and many times it will consider the daily current events as the source of their jokes and sources of ridicule.

Yes, when one is a politician, one will most assuredly need to have an extremely thick skin and not take anything personal. Of course, it will be tremendously hard to sit idly by why someone copies you. However, if it is in a nice way, then that will be a source of pride. However, if it is portrayed in a bad way, sometimes that can be hard to stomach. But, if one was to raise a ruckus because of the negative light that they are portrayed in, then beware and rest assured that the following week, one would certainly be the butt of all the celebrities who are impersonating politicians.
